Boom Esports Valorant Fidelwow Reveals Paper Rex’s Success as Inspiration for Their Future Plans

The 2023 professional Valorant season has been the wildest one for Southeast Asia’s finest Paper Rex, who is doing well in the competitive scene and establishing themselves as one of the best in the global competition. Their accomplishments in the last two major tournaments, Pacific and Masters 2023, have gained them the respect of professionals, such as Boom Esports Valorant team analyst Fidel “Fidelwow” Saputra, who praised the Singaporean’s transfer policy and performance in the Boom Talk Volume 6 last night.

Through a Twitter space session, he revealed several plans for his team to compete in the next season, one of which is considering the option of import player. Interestingly, he mentioned the Paper Rex surprise transfer this season with Ilya “something” Petrov as an inspiration for their scouting process.

“Actually, we’re considering the option from outside the SEA,” Fidelwow stated. “I don’t bother much with their background. You’ve seen what Paper Rex have achieved this season with a player like Something. He shows us that an average guy would excel with a right team and strategy. Things like language barriers and other problems can be taken care of later.”

Nonetheless, Fidel feels that his team does not need to rush into recruiting new players if there is a better method to improve the team with existing players, considering the new season is still a long way off. He would like to see the team improving their current squad lineup rather than go with a drastic change that could be detrimental to their progress.

“The transfer plan depends on the management team and certain conditions. But honestly, I don’t like to go through a drastic change, since it would take longer for the team to adapt. As you see months ago, we tried it with Cud and it did not work,” he said.

Fidel mentioned that the improvement plan is a part of their commitment to reach VCT 2024. Personally, he is looking forward to see more Valorant competitions to analyze the meta and find new interesting players, with the aim to achieve the consistency and teamwork of their SEA compatriots such as Bleed Esports and Paper Rex, which the latter is now sitting in the top three global Valorant teams.
