The Philippines is at the center stage of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang craze in Southeast Asia’s esports realm. The buzz is real, especially with the much-anticipated M5 showdown happening in there this year. It’s more than just a competition; it’s a heartfelt reunion for Filipino players representing their nation on the global stage.

Undoubtedly, Philippines region has long been recognized as a powerhouse in the international MLBB scene. With a plethora of ambitious young talents, it comes as no surprise that numerous MLBB teams have shown keen interest in players and coaches from this nation. The presence of Filipinos in prominent teams participating in the upcoming M5, spanning from the Indonesian region to North America, attests to this fact.

Regarding Philippines as the host, this competition holds a special significance for its people, including key figures from Onic Esports such as head coach Paul “Yeb” Denver and jungler Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol, both of whom have garnered widespread acclaim over the past year. Kairi, in particular, believes that this tournament will hold a special place in his heart.

Talking to Ulti Asia, the superstar, who has earned prestigious accolades in MPL Indonesia, expressed that competing in his own country serves as a powerful motivator to improve his game, aspiring to deliver an exceptional performance in front of his family and devoted supporters who have stood by him from the outset. Still, he acknowledged that the passionate Filipino fans would exert a certain level of pressure once the competition commences.

“The M series is always important, but M5 will be special to me, you know. Of course there will be a pressure, but I want to give my best for family and PH fans. That motivates me to push myself in the competition,” he remarked. “And I think the same goes for Baloy and Marky (Geek Fam) as well. We are definitely looking forward to it.”

With the M5 tournament just around the corner, Onic Esports and Geek Fam are intensifying their preparations as they brace themselves for the ultimate showdown in the Philippines. In a recent development, Onic Esports opted to withdraw from the upcoming MPLI 2023 in mid-November, while Geek Fam confirmed their spot.

Nevertheless, Kairi himself has voiced his support for his Filipino compatriots in MPL ID, hoping them to improve and deliver their best performance for their fans.

““I think it’s been a good season for them (Baloy and Marky). As a friend, I am proud of their latest achievements and I hope we can do our best in Philippines together!””
