The recent player transfers ahead of the mid-season break in the MLBB Pro League Indonesia S13 have stirred up quite a debate among fans who have seen some key players leave their favorite teams. Eventually, Moonton Indonesia responded to these discussions by clarifying their transfer policy.

In the lead-up to the fourth week, teams like RRQ Hoshi and Evos Glory took the spotlight with significant roster shake-ups, drafting players from other teams and promoting from within. RRQ Hoshi brought back their seasoned roamer Calvyn “Vyn” from Bigetron Alpha, while Evos Glory shifted a bulk of their players and coaches from Evos Holy to compete in MPL ID.

This move sparked criticism from MPL ID fans who questioned the effectiveness of the roster lock deadline set in January, now that teams have the liberty to change players whenever they please. However, Gabriella Widjaja, Moonton’s Esport League Operation Manager, clarified that these rules were established prior to the start of MPL ID S13.

“We’ve updated our transfer policy this season by removing the requirement for free agent players to spend a week in MDL before joining MPL,” she explained in a press conference last weekend. “Additionally, mid-season transfers are now allowed, but players can’t return to their original team in the same season. However, player transfers are off-limits during playoffs.”

She also mentioned that international player transfers are permissible during the same period, provided the teams meet the necessary documentation requirements. However, Moonton Indonesia has enforced restrictions on the number of transfers allowed and the quota of foreign players per team to maintain competitiveness.

“Foreign players can compete in Indonesia if their respective teams can arrange visas for them. The maximum number of foreign players is capped at 3, with only 2 permitted in the main lineup. We assure you that this decision was made with input from participating teams.”

Despite the ongoing debate, these transfer regulations have injected a fresh dose of excitement into the league, adding an element of unpredictability. As MPL ID S13 unfolds, fans have witnessed top teams grappling to climb the ladder, suggesting that this policy shift could play a pivotal role in propelling team performance in a short span.
