It is no surprise that VALORANT is coming to mobile and players are anxiously awaiting its release. What is surprising is that Riot Games is allegedly also working on bringing the popular first-person shooter game to consoles.
On the Hitmarker website, Riot Games have recently posted two job listings, one for a Game Design Manager (Console) position and another for a Senior Game Designer (Console) position.
The description of the Senior Game Designer role states that they have to “design and refine features, modes, and systems to help bring console game products to market,” while the responsibilities of the Game Design Manager include “(working) with team leads to develop a vision for combat in VALORANT on Consoles”.
The game developer has yet to release an official statement but the job listings say a lot on their own already; VALORANT, what used to be a PC exclusive, is expanding to other platforms like mobile and consoles.
This is definitely a step in the right direction as other first-person shooter games – like Overwatch 2 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II – already have cross-play and cross-progression.
Players can play across different devices and have their data synced between them. They can also play against other players on different devices, which is something VALORANT has yet to implement, until now.
The new developments will certainly attract new players to the game and make current players more excited to play.
