Wang “Jinggg” Jie’s outstanding performance with Paper Rex this season certainly wowed many onlookers, including the Riot Games development team, who witnessed him crushing teams to reach the Champions 2023 grand finals in Los Angeles, USA. And as a token of appreciation, they are now working on a new agent based on the Singaporean youngster.
Weeks after the end of its competitive season, the Valorant developer team shared their latest State of The Agents blog, emphasising on Gekko and Deadlock impacts in the current patch. Along with them, they released an update on their most recent work with the upcoming new agent.
According to the developer, they are working on a new duelist-type agent, tentatively titled Agent 24, and planning to release it by the end of 2023. Valorant’s character producer, John Goscicki, emphasised that the new agent will have a unique skill set that draws significantly from Jinggg.
“It’s been almost two years since our last duelist, Neon, joined the roster and many of you ego-fraggers have been asking for a new one. For some of you that means aspiring to plow through enemies like Jinggg, and putting hours in clicking those orbs with aim trainers for that clean 5K. This agent is for you.”
So far, the developer has only provided a cryptic visual implying that the agent will incorporate a strong Chinese culture, with no information on actual skillset. Most likely, they will provide further information on this mysterious agent before December starts.
It will be interesting to see what kind of influence this new agent will have and how well it will do against the current duelist lineup. Fans may expect an agent that depends on split-second precision and heavy damage, given Jinggg’s typical reckless playstyle and his incredible record with Raze.
