Jon “Theo” Eusebio, one of the Filipino imports brought into Evos Glory this season, just spilled the beans that he had this grand plan to put together a super squad for Evos Glory in MPL ID Season 13. Unfortunately, it never really panned out, thanks to a bunch of stuff that was totally out of his hands.
During a recent podcast hosted by caster Frederick “Mirko” Loho on YouTube, Theo unveiled his pivotal role in crafting Evos Glory’s roster for MPL ID Season 13. Presenting a strategic vision, he nominated heavyweight players from the MPL PH scene. Foremost among them was Salic “Hadji” Imam, a standout from Blacklist International, whom Theo earmarked as the prime candidate for Evos Glory’s lineup.
“The truth is, I already talked with Hadji before. I saw Hadji didn’t play too much in MPL PH S12, I think because he didn’t have chemistry with (Blacklist) pos 5, which was Renejay. So I asked him: “do you want to go to Evos?” I showed him the lineup, and we talked for almost one month.”
Regrettably, Theo’s aspirations hit a roadblock as Hadji opted to remain focused on his endeavors in the Philippines. Undeterred, Theo pivoted, exploring other avenues to fortify Evos Glory’s roster. Despite his best efforts, securing the talents of King “K1NGKONG” Perez and members from Echo proved fruitless due to contractual obligations.
“Evos was prepared to spend more money for Hadji, but Hadji said he still has a problem in PH. That’s why I tried out Super Red. He played good, I think he can carry the team.” he said. “I already contacted my friend, K1ngkong, but he has a contract with Onic PH. I talked to Sanji, and even Sanford. But they’re super expensive!”
Interestingly, Theo discloses a tantalizing prospect of nearly joining rival outfit Bigetron Alpha before ultimately pledging allegiance to Evos. Turns out, he caught BTR’s eye when they were in talks to snag Eman “Emann” Sangco. But here’s the kicker: RSG PH threw a wrench in the works with their pricey contract terms, making BTR have second thoughts.
“The first MPL ID team who approached me was the Red Robot. So, when they wanted to buy out Emann, RSG also wanted me to buy out from BTR. But BTR could not afford both because Emann was very expensive,” said Theo. “Sure, if BTR was able to afford me, I would accept it.”
Theo’s journey in competitive MLBB took an unexpected turn in the mid-season as he transitioned from the helm of head coach to the role of analyst, yielding the reins to Afrindo “Strate” Valentino. Theo explained that this decision stemmed from linguistic barriers impeding effective communication between the coaching staff and Evos Glory’s predominantly non-English-speaking players.
