MPL Malaysia Season 11 has experienced a significant increase in peak viewership, according to Esports Charts. The season recorded a peak viewership of 288,896 with 6.3 million hours of viewing, breaking previous records for the league. This is a remarkable achievement, as previous seasons had never surpassed 250,000 peak viewers since the league’s inception.
The increase in viewership can be attributed in part to the presence of foreign players in MPL Malaysia Season 11. 13 foreign players participated in the league, spread across different teams. Homebois, in particular, had two Indonesian players, Warlord and Barbossa, as well as a Filipino coach, Dale, who was formerly with Falcon Esports. The presence of Indonesian players in Homebois’ roster helped boost peak viewership, as Indonesian fans of Mobile Legends have a high level of enthusiasm for supporting players on foreign teams.
In addition to Homebois, there were also Filipino players such as Jowm, KingSalman, and Santi Sucre in the league, which added to the diversity of the players. The presence of Filipino coaches like Dale (Homebois), Behave (Todak), and Pao (Team Lunatix) also contributed to the unique gameplay of MPL Malaysia Season 11.
Interestingly, the highest peak viewership during the season was recorded during the Upper Bracket Final match between Todak and Homebois, rather than the Grand Final between Todak and Team SMG, which only recorded a peak viewership of 255,813.
MPL Malaysia has become the fastest-growing region since it separated from MPL Singapore in the previous season. With the addition of foreign players and coaches, the league has become more diverse and exciting for fans of Mobile Legends.
