Communication Challenges Lead to Theo’s Coaching Demotion at Evos Glory

In an unexpected development, John “Theo” Eusebio, the recent addition to Evos Glory, has made headlines by stepping down from his coaching duties to transition into an analyst role, effective immediately. This decision comes on the heels of a rough patch for the team during the past three weeks of the MLBB Pro League Indonesia Season 13.

Signed from RSG Philippines in February, Theo was seen as the replacement for Steven “Age” Gunawan, who resigned back in October 2023. With an impressive resume boasting success in both domestic and international tournaments, and earning accolades from seasoned players in the Filipino MLBB circuit, Theo quickly became a topic of fervent discussion within the Indonesian MLBB community, particularly among avid Evos supporters.

Unfortunately, what was hoped to be a turnaround for Evos turned sour. Under Theo’s guidance, the team managed only one win out of six games, finding themselves at the bottom of the MPL ID S13 standings—a disappointing start for Evos in its competitive history.

Facing this setback, Evos made significant changes to their lineup towards the end of the mid-season. Notable players from last season, like Rachmad “DreamS” Wahyudi and Regi “Fluffy” Marviola, were brought in to replace newer additions. Meanwhile, Theo will be trading places with Afrindo “Strate” Valentino, who will now take on the head coaching role.

Via his personal Instagram account, Theo confirmed that he has been switched as an analyst, citing communication challenges within the team as a key factor. To ensure an improvement until the end of regular season, he’ll be aided by Tesista “Caleb” Kayleb, who is trusted to bridge the communication gap with players.

Theo isn’t alone in his move. Jon “Super Red” Bordeos, another Filipino signing who was recruited from Blacklist International this season, has been demoted to a substitute position due to subpar performance.

Language barriers aren’t new to Evos camp. When they brought in Gerald “Dlar” Trinchera in 2022, they encountered the same issue. Eventually, they moved him from the team to a content creator position before he left Indonesia in August 2023.
