Dlar Plans to Return to Philippines After a Difficult Year with Evos Legends

Gerald “Dlar” Trinchera is finally calling it quits from Evos Legends after a year of competing in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Pro League in Indonesia. He plans to return to Philippines when MPL ID S12 is on break next week.

On the Evos TV channel, he confirmed that the squad is now centering their play around the trio: Arthur “Sutsujin” Sunarkho, Muhammad “Cr1te” Nur Effandy, and Vincentsius “VaanStrong” Adrianto, who have shown strong synergy and thus no longer require him. He also expected that readjusting to the current patch and meta would require some time.

Furthermore, he emphasized that he still has an enormous desire to compete in professional MLBB and explore possibilities for the next season. As such, he decided to go home and take his time to develop his playstyle. Nonetheless, he promised to continue his live streaming for his fans, especially the Indonesian ones, on his YouTube account.

Evos management’s decision to let Dlar go as a free agent has received strong criticism from fans, believing that their coaching team had wasted the young Filipino’s talent. They contend that Dlar may have improved in another team with proper guidance and more playing time.

His past performances definitely indicated that he had limited opportunities to play with the regular team. When he came to Indonesia in August 2022, he was listed as one of their subs for the MPL ID S10 and largely filled in for Evos’ second squad in the MLBB Development League Season 6. By the start of 2023, he had been moved to a content creator position and was practically not playing in any professional competition, except for his one-time appearance in the MLBB Southeast Asia Cup 2023 in Cambodia. Later, he returned to the regular team as one of the subs for MPL ID S12.

Despite his time with the team, he stated that he continues to maintain a good relationship with the Evos players and fans, and would not rule out returning to Indonesia in the future. He credited Miranda “Yeb” Denver and Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol, his Filipino fellows in Indonesia, for motivating him to build his career there.
