More Filipino MLBB Players in Indonesia are Returning to Their Home Country: Dlar and Hadess Are Next

Rumors of Filipino players leaving the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Indonesia competitive scene continue to heat up. Shortly after rumors of Onic Esports head coach Miranda “Yeb” Denver and jungler Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol returning to Philippines surfaced, Gerald “Dlar” Trinchera and Jaymark “Hadess” Thomas Lazaro are reportedly coming back to Philippines MLBB scene soon.

Last night, Dlar posted a response to Yeb’s video which hinted at his return to Philippines. Shortly after, he continued with a post showing his team’s trophy collection, Evos Legends, with a cryptic farewell gesture.

Evos fams who have been concerned about Dlar’s career after MPL ID S10 were alarmed by this message. Most of them have assumed Dlar has been unhappy with his role as stand-in for the team since October 2022. He spends most of his time as one the content creators in Evos and barely playing in any tournament, aside from his one time participation in recent MSC 2023.

In the meantime, Hadess (previously Jannaqt) of the Geek Slate squad was unexpectedly revealed as a new member of the Blacklist International team, which will compete in the ESL Snapdragon Pro Series S3 competition next month. He will replace Danerie “Wise” Rosario, who decided to take a break from competition after MSC 2023 last week.

The departure of Hadess from Geek Slate is likely to have a significant impact on the Geek Slate squad, who are still planning their lineup for MPL ID Season 12. In the MPL ID Season 11, he and his fellow Filipino Allen “Baloyskie” Jedric Baloy were named as crucial members of the squad, helping them against prominent Indonesian teams like RRQ and Bigetron to reach the playoffs.

Dlar and Hadess have yet to reply to rumours about their departure from Indonesia. There’s also a possibility that Dlar will join the new giant Dewa United, which has recently joined MPL ID. According to one of our sources, the team’s founder was impressed with Dlar’s performance at MSC 2023. Furthermore, there’s a possibility that Blacklist only signed Hadess on loan for the ESL Snapdragon tournament and will not sign him permanently if Wise decides to compete in MPL PH Season 12.

The trend of Filipino players quitting MLBB Indonesia’s professional scene appears to be indication that MPL Indonesia is commited to develop their local talents. Several names have recently criticised the tournament, claiming that major teams rely too much on the imports. One of them was Frengky Ong, general secretary of the Board of Indonesian Esports (PBESI), who claimed that PBESI plans to start their own MLBB league with strict rules regarding the use of players outside Indonesia.
