The investigation into the match-fixing report that rocked Southeast Asian MLBB scene has finally come to light as officials of the MLBB Pro League Malaysia have declared Nik “Dominus” Muhyyiddin, a midlaner of Bountee Esports MLBB team, as the one behind the shady activity.
Per an official announcement from MPL MY, Dominus was found guilty of trying to rig a match in the ongoing MPL MY Season 13 competition. Additionally, officials revealed that he also tried to sway his own teammates to throw a game in that tournament.
The statement reads, “Nik “Dominus” Muhyyiddin attempted to engage in match-fixing and offered financial incentives to two Bountee Esports players to throw a match. These are serious violations of integrity and professionalism.”
“As per Moonton’s rulebook (12.2.14), the player has violated its anti-match fixing rule, which states that “No team member may offer, agree, conspired, or attempt to influence the outcome of a game or a match by any means that are prohibited by law or these rules.”
As a consequence of these violations, Dominus has been handed a ban from participating in any official competitions organized by Moonton, both domestically and internationally, until April 2025. On the other hand, Bountee Esports has been declared clean and will continue its participation in the MPL MY.
he scandal has spurred officials of the MPL MY to reaffirm their dedication to fostering sportsmanship and ethical behavior among participants, a crucial focus given the country’s hosting of the sixth M World Championship this year. Yet, despite the stringent measures taken, there are concerns among MPL MY fans regarding the perceived leniency of Dominus’s punishment and the potential for repeat offenses.
