The Wild Rift Philippines community was in a little bit of a stir recently following a Competitive Ruling that banned the Amihan Esports organization from all Riot Games esports for 12 months.
Individually, Karlll has been banned for 9 months, Christian Villegas has been banned for 12 months and Team Owner Francis Mariano has been banned indefinitely from all Riot Games esports.
To add fuel to the burning garbage pile, Riot Games has also forfeited all of Amihan Esports’ prize winnings from both the SEA Icon Series Philippines Summer Season and the SEA Icon Series Summer Super Cup.
Amihan Esports did substantially well in the recent Super Summer Cup, sporting a dominating 5-1 performance in the Group Stages before bowing out in a close BO5 against Vietnam’s SBTC Esports.
In fact, Amihan Esports did so well that some people thought that they were map-hacking. This was what spawned a Riot Games investigation in the first place.
Some redditors thought the punishment was a little too harsh and many don’t see the severity of the crime at hand. But there was one that put it succinctly that rules are in fact, rules. Especially when the Amihan Esports organization put in so much effort into the forgery of documents of all things.
Amihan Esports published an apology with regards to this incident and even then, apparently took pride in the achievements they made with the fraudulent squad.
