The Philippines will serve as home base for G2 Blacklist as they compete in LoL: Wild Rift tournaments throughout Southeast Asia, with the Wild Rift League (WRL) Asia as their ultimate goal.
Following the rise of FaZe Clan and Team Secret in Vietnam and Malaysia, G2 Esports is following suit in Southeast Asia and collaborating with the Philippines powerhouse, Blacklist International, as a collaborative unit called G2 Blacklist.
Tier One, Blacklist’s management, will also produce a brand new web series called “The Bootcamp”, which will focus on their Wild Rift’s journey.
This season will be the debut for both teams in the official Wild Rift tournament. Previously, the G2 team wanted to join the Wild Rift competition in Europe, namely the Wild Rift Championship EMEA (WRC EMEA) competition. However, Riot’s decision to fully concentrate Wild Rift competition in Asia starting this year tilted the balance for G2 to expand to Southeast Asia instead.
The G2 Blacklist partnership will not only be the largest esports team collaboration in Southeast Asia to date, but also the first in the esports industry. And the CEO of Blacklist International, Tryke Gutierrez, seems quite determined to boost his team’s reputation through this partnership.
“This is a game changer not only for Wild Rift esports, but for the industry as a whole.” he said. “Alongside G2, we’re looking forward to bringing the Blacklist International brand to new audiences around the world.”
To celebrate this global joint-partnership, Blacklist has planned to work with a well-known Philippines street artist named Juanito “Quiccs” Maiquez for the upcoming project. They teased that there will be exclusive merchandise for the G2 Blacklist line.
The G2 Blacklist consists of players which they acquired from Team Underground, who finished third in the Champions Southeast Asia Philippines 2022 competition in February 2022. They will play in Wild Rift Asia Qualifiers Phase 2 tomorrow.
G2 Blacklist lineup: Karll, Jace, Xyliath, Don, Lara1, and Orthros.
