Riot Games and Microsoft have announced a partnership that brings Riot’s biggest games – such as League of Legends and Valorant – to the Xbox Game Pass subscription service in January 2023.
At first glance, this may not seem like much, since Riot’s games are all free-to-play. However, the benefits come in the form of in-game bonuses that will help players save a lot of time and money.
The biggest one? Xbox Game Pass subscribers will have access to every single League of Legends champion and Valorant agent for as long as they keep their Xbox Game Pass subscription.
But once they choose to unsubscribe from the service, they will also lose access to the characters that they love. Players can, however, use their Game Pass subscription to try all the characters and buy their favourites to use even without a subscription.
This will be especially attractive for new players who were previously too intimidated to start playing the games because of all the unlocks needed.
Xbox Game Pass subscribers will also receive a 20 per cent XP boost in League of Legends and a 20 per cent match XP boost in Valorant for battle pass, event pass, and active agent contract progress.
To play the games, players will need to link their Riot account and Xbox profile. Doing so before 1 January 2023 will grant them with additional rewards, such as:
- (Valorant) Pocket Sage Buddy
- (League of Legends) Masterwork Chest and Key
- (Teamfight Tactics) Little Legend Rare Egg
- (Wild Rift) Random Emote Chest
- (Legends of Runeterra) Prismatic Chest
If the Xbox Game Pass subscription service was not attractive before, this partnership will definitely lure more to subscribe to reap the benefits from their favourite games.
