New year, new surprise Payday sequel.
Fans of heist game Payday celebrate. The franchise announced Payday 3 on January 1 through Payday’s Twitter. The announcement included a new trailer unveiling an updated white logo design.
The game can currently be wishlisted on Steam. While there is not much information available right now, except that it will be released sometime this year. According to a statement from Almir Listo, Head of Community at Starbreeze Studios, the Steam Community Hub will be used to answer questions from curious fans.
This surprise release comes a decade after Payday 2, initially released in August 2013. These past ten years have clearly only served to create anticipation for one of the most beloved co-op shooter games out there.
It’s pretty remarkable that Payday could remain so beloved even after so many years. That’s almost as long as the gap between the Avatar movies.
This new entry is making sure to keep up with the needs of fans. While Payday 2 used the Diesel Engine, Payday 3 is being developed using Unreal Engine. This is sure to create an incredibly immersive 3D experience for players. Perhaps this could even help Payday 3 surpass the popularity of its predecessor.
All in all, Payday 3 is shaping up to be one of the most highly-anticipated upcoming releases of the year. We’ll have to wait and see if it manages to live up to the hype.
