Is Marvel Snap Taking Over the CCG Scene?

Marvel Snap may be a relatively new game, but it is certainly making its mark in the gaming community.

The digital collectible card game was only released in October 2022 but managed to take home Best Mobile Game at The Game Awards last year. Earlier this month, the game had also just surpassed $50 million in revenue and 18 million downloads.

Its biggest competitor, Hearthstone, may still be well ahead in terms of the statistics but it is also eight years older. It has a large fanbase and a serious esports scene already up and running. Give it some time, Marvel Snap might grow to become just as popular.

The game’s developer, Second Dinner Studios, announced a roadmap showcasing their plans for 2023 at the end of last year, which included new battle modes and other updates. Now, besides the battle mode with friends that is already in-game, the new Conquest mode is dropping soon.

The new battle mode steers the game away from its casual feel and more into a competitive gameplay. This not only provides greater variety, but it also helps push the game into competitive esports.

However, the esports community is well ahead of the update and did not wait for Conquest mode to be released. We are already beginning to see Marvel Snap tournaments being held.

With new updates and tournaments being released and held, coupled with its fast-paced gameplay, it’s easy to see why Marvel Snap would be a great esport title. It looks like Marvel has another winner on their hands.
