2022 was nothing short of an eventful year for Genshin Impact – from the Chinese game developer rebranding to HoYoverse (a nod to a new era beyond the realm of video games to other forms of media), to releasing a completely new region. There’s a reason it won the Players’ Voice Award at The Game Awards 2022, right?
And there’ll only be more good things to come, considering the game is only two years into its ten-year roadmap. Some are impatient to know what’s ahead, but here are five top reasons you should still continue to log in and do your dailies in 2023:
- More complex storytelling
Sumeru’s landscape is breath-taking, but what really takes the cake is its intricate – even mature – storytelling. Not going to lie, the Archon Quests made more than just a handful of players shed a tear.
For many, this was a big step-up from Inazuma, which many players found to have fallen flat in terms of both storytelling and characterisation despite the hype surrounding it.
- Dendro changing the game’s meta
Tons of people have said the introduction of Dendro characters has effectively made Electro DPSs viable again – and they’re not wrong.
With the new Quicken, Spread and Aggravate reactions, underrated Electro characters like Keqing are finally getting the attention they deserve. As more Dendro characters are introduced, Genshin’s meta will only continue to evolve.
- Genius Invokation TCG
Some scoffed when HoYoverse announced that it would introduce a permanent card game feature in Genshin, but it has turned out to be quite the fun and addictive addition.
For players who need a brief respite from the intensity of the main game, this one’s for you.
- Genshin anime series
Perhaps no announcement was as well-received as this one: HoYoverse has teamed up with the reputable Japanese animation studio Ufotable to bring its roleplaying game to the screen – in the form of an anime series. Ufotable is well-known for animating popular anime series like Demon Slayer and the Fate series, so it’s no wonder that hopes are high for this project.
- Fontaine region
So far, Genshin seems to be keeping up with its schedule of releasing a new region every year, meaning that the France-based Fontaine will likely come in 2023. Considering that this is the nation of justice, its lore will be no doubt be important to bringing us one step closer to the truth.
