Oh, bummer. COVID-19 cases are rising, and Malaysia is back on their movement control order. Singapore, too, has been thrown back into Phase 2 of reopening. With all these movement restrictions in place, staying home might be the best way…out.
But gamers, fret not. Here are some memes we’ve created to tickle your funny bone and show you why it’s great to be a gamer even under these tough times!
No badge, no talk
Here’s one infamous woman who stubbornly refuses to wear a mask as she went about challenging safe distancing ambassadors to show their badges before she will be willing to talk. Thankfully, the Singapore police are currently investigating this case.
Meanwhile, Pokemon players are more than happy to flaunt their badges to her.
Fights breaking out
People around the world are literally fighting it out over toilet paper – of all things! With MCO 3.0 in Malaysia and Phase 2 restrictions in Singapore, residents are ransacking supermarket shelves as if they are living in a zombie apocalypse.
Keep calm and leave your duels in-game, please.
No stock?
With more people cooped out in their houses, we are presuming they are shitting more (hence the shortage of toilet papers) and playing more games. While we can’t say if the unfathomable demand for toilet paper is reasonable, the shortage of PS5s can’t be forgiven!
Let’s just hope we can see more PS5s on the shelves again to get us through the “lockdown”. And perhaps toilet papers too.
Roadblock!
With interstate travel strictly barred from May 12 till June 7, our fellow Malaysians are feeling it worse as MCO 3.0 took effect last week.
Gamers have certainly found their way around the travel restrictions in-game. Can’t say it might be the same for non-gamers who are feeling the itch and desperation to go across the physical borders.
Better in-game
Well, it might sound tempting to go out for a walk and marvel at the Super Trees at Gardens by the Bay in Singapore. But as the government “strongly encourages” its residents to stay home as much as they can, it might be better to play it safe and visit the gardens virtually and have some shooting fun – all while protecting the nation against the invading PLA (in Battlefield 4).
“Work” from home
Working from home is now the default in Singapore. Gamers are rejoicing over the fact that they can perhaps spend the bulk of the workday secretly gaming on their computers and consoles while still doing work.
Whatever you may choose to do – just don’t get caught!
