The conclusion of MPL ID S8 is not the end of the story. Not long after ONIC beat RRQ in a very tense series, one of ONIC’s boys’, Kiboy had his Instagram account vanish. While we don’t have the specifics on why his Instagram account disappeared, it is most likely due to massive amounts of reports done to the account.
But wait, there’s more. After Kiboy, it was Blacklist International’s turn. They also beat RRQ at the MPLI earlier this November. Guess what, Blacklist International’s instagram account also disappeared. Coincidence? We think not.
While many might think that RRQ fans did this, RRQ’s CEO, Andrian Pauline, has given a statement that said RRQ true fans would not commit such malicious acts and condemns anyone doing this to flame RRQ.
It seems that a person, or some party, wants to provoke the fans causing a commotion. While we are not clear of their intentions, some experts speculate that they might be GETTING PAID to commit the account-cancelling.
M3 is coming, will there be another victim?
M3 is just around the corner, all teams are prepared to come to Singapore later this December. Meanwhile, the culprits might have their eye on another victim.
Looking back at the history of accounts disappearing, here’s our prediction on who will be their “next prey”:
- TODAK – Malaysia
Only history can tell the rivalry between Indonesian and Malaysian teams. From football to esports, Indonesia vs Malaysia is a match people always look forward to. In this case, ONIC represents Indonesia and Todak represents Malaysia. Since they are in the same group of M3 Group Stage, we advise Todak to be careful. They might want to change their Instagram’s privacy settings.
- EVOS SG – Singapore
While Singapore is the host of the M3 World Championship, you can’t run from “them”. EVOS is the brand all esports fans know, and while “they” love to get the attention of the world, they know what to do, click the three dots beside their account name, click report, repeat 1000x.
Even though EVOS SG is not in the same group with other Indonesian teams, they still have a big chance to be reported, simply because they bear the EVOS name.
- Team SMG’s SASA – Malaysia
If they were to hone in on individual players. Sasa played for ONIC for a few years before going back to his hometown, Malaysia, to join Team SMG. This makes Sasa a prime candidate for attacks. Not because he’s Malaysian, but because he’s popular among Indonesian fans.
All teams can only be wary of what they might do in the near future. While we don’t know who the culprits are and their motives, we can only hope these attacks end soon now that the law is involved.
