Some know them as the only 2-time winners of The International (TI) while others know them for their relentless and unforgiving BM. Love OG or hate them, you must admit that they are one of the best Dota 2 teams out there, or at least they were…
Dropping yet another qualifier in the Dota Pro Circuit at the DreamLeague Season 15 Western Europe Upper Division last week, OG find themselves on shaky ground. The reigning TI8 and TI9 champions are unlikely to qualify for TI10 in August, much less defend their title – unless they can prove their worth in the open qualifiers.
The unfortunate plight of the BM kings finally gave them a chance to taste their own medicine, and Team Secret jumped right on that opportunity.
However, it looked like the offlaner Sébastien “Ceb” Debs just couldn’t take the heat despite constantly dishing it out. Following the buzz from the meme, the 29-year-old gamer took directly to Midormeepo (the handler of Team Secret’s twitter account) and shared some colourful words to demonstrate his irritation.
This unprofessional outburst has left many fans disappointed with the reigning champions, with many fans finding it ironic and hypocritical.
The team has been known to enjoy their fair share of BM and have called other teams “shit” or “noob” in pregame Dota Pro Circuit interviews, they have even been known to excessively use voicelines and loser sprays as a form of mental warfare. Most recently the team flamed Evil Geniuses in the ONE Esports Singapore Major by partaking in the “?” meme.
The current state of OG is a far cry from their more likable selves in TI8, where they had to overcome last-minute departures and an arduous journey through the open qualifiers en-route to their unlikely title win. I guess it’s true; you either die a hero or live long enough to become the villain.
