In a surprising turn of events, Boom Esports has officially disbanded its newly-formed Dota 2 roster based in Peru, South America, just over two weeks after its initial announcement amid widespread speculation. The team, comprising notable Peruvian talents like Christian “Pakasz” Savina, Jordan “Slatem$” Vega, Rafael “Sacred” Yonatan, Farith “Matthew” Puente, Romel “Mjz” Rojas, and head coach Igor “kaffs” Furtado Guimaraes, was expected to make its debut at the upcoming ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023.
The Indonesian esports veteran had made a strategic exit from the competitive Dota 2 scene in the SEA region on November 13 to assemble this Peruvian powerhouse. However, the team faced an unexpected setback during the SA closed qualifier a few weeks ago, failing to secure a spot in the prestigious ESL One Kuala Lumpur tournament.
Further disappointment followed during the group stage of Pinnacle: 25 Year Anniversary Show, where the Hungry Beast exited the competition without a single victory. This series of setbacks prompted Boom Esports to make a swift decision, leading to the dissolution of the majority of the roster as of December 6th. At the moment, Only Pakasz remains in the lineup, hinting at an imminent overhaul for the Dota 2 team.
Speculation is rife that Boom Esports is actively pursuing the South American newcomer and ESL One Kuala Lumpur SA Closed Qualifier winner, Wawitas Sagazes, as a potential addition to their roster. Despite being formed less than a month ago, Wawitas has demonstrated considerable promise, boasting seasoned players like Gonzalo “Dark Mago” Herrera and Jose “Panda” Padilla, both who have been recognized during their stint in Thunder Awaken.
As the ESL One Kuala Lumpur event draws near, Boom Esports has yet to release any official statements or announcements regarding their revamped Dota 2 lineup. However, anticipation is building within the fanbase, with expectations high for an imminent update from the organization.
