In a stunning turn of event, the esteemed free agent player, Herli “Jeixy” Juliansyah, revered within the PUBG Mobile community in Indonesia, finds himself embroiled in controversy along with his associate Chandrika Chika, a popular internet personality in Indonesia, following allegations of illicit activities.
Reports reveal that Jeixy, Chika and four other celebrities have been arrested by South Jakarta Metro Police last night. The Deputy Head of Drugs at the South Jakarta Metro Police stated they were charged for possession of various narcotics such as marijuana and crack, coupled with accusations of hosting a drug party.
Under the statutes of Indonesian Law No. 35 Year 2009, the drug trade carries severe penalties, ranging from extended imprisonment to life sentences.
“Based on the results of the investigation at the time of the crime scene, we found that there were six people,” the deputy said. “One of them goes by the initial HJ, a professional esports athlete.”
Although Jeixy had long been associated with his former team, Aura Esports, many old fans believed that the 26-year-old player had departed from the organization after its PUBGM squad was disbanded in December 2023. The Dragon, promptly responding to the unfolding events, confirmed this development.
In response to the circulating social media reports, Aura Esports has officially stated that “HJ’s contractual relationship with the organization, both as a player and talent, was ended in 2023. His actions and conduct are not reflective of Aura Esports’ values as a brand or organization.”
A promising talent
This dramatic turn of events involving Jeixy delivers a significant blow to the Indonesian esports scene, signaling the emergence of its first narcotics scandal within the professional community. It appears highly probable that this occurrence will symbolize the conclusion of Jeixy’s esports journey, which has spanned over five years.
Since 2018, Jeixy had been heralded as a rising star within the Indonesian PUBGM Scene. While his journey may not have glittered as brightly as some of his counterparts, he maintained an impressive personal record, solidifying his status as a mainstay within esteemed organizations competing in the top tier PUBGM tournaments.
His prowess was evident early on, capturing attention with victories in PUBGM inter-campus tournaments, ultimately attracting the interest of Evos Esports, who secured his signature in May 2018. Under the banner of the Blue Tiger, Jeixy claimed the prestigious PUBGM Indonesia National Championship 2018 title and showcased his skills on the international stage in the Fall Split: SEA Championship in November 2019.
As 2019 drew to a close, Jeixy embarked on a new chapter, joining the ranks of the newcomer, We Against the World, later rebranded as Morph in February 2020. Along with his ally, Fiqri “NoMercy” Syachputra, they became instrumental in big games across Indonesia and SEA.
Their stellar performances didn’t go unnoticed, attracting the attention of rival outfits in Indonesia. In a pivotal move in January 2021, Jeixy and NoMercy agreed to a lucrative transfer offer from Aura, following internal turmoil within the Morph management.
