AP Bren extended its undefeated streak in the third week of the MLBB Pro League Philippines Season 13, culminating last Sunday (4/7), with a gripping 2-1 victory over their fierce rivals, Echo. And similar to last week, Onic Philippines closely trailed them in third place.
The clash of the giants set proved to be a spectacle as Echo valiantly challenged Bren’s dominance, marking the end of the Hive’s flawless win streak from the previous week. Coach Francis “Ducky” Glindro expressed that the intense showdown served as motivation for his team to elevate their performance in the upcoming matches.
The clash between these titans commenced with a fierce battle in game 1, where Bren gained an early advantage through the exceptional gameplay of Marco “Super Marco” Requitiano on Brody, strategically dismantling Echo’s key players such as Alston “Sanji” Pabico and Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno, propelling Bren ahead by the 8th minute.
Echo, however, capitalized on Rowgien “Owgwen” Unigo’s mistake around the 11th minute, turning the tide with a well-executed teamfight victory and securing the Lord. Echo relentlessly pushed towards Bren’s base, but its advance was thwarted by Super Marco. Bren regained control around the 16th minute, punishing Echo and clinching a 12-7 victory in the round.
Unfazed by the previous setback, Echo maintained the aggressive strategy, pushing Bren to the edge, resulting in a tense battle around Bren’s base turret by the 22nd minute. Bren eventually got overwhelmed by Echo’s onslaught, led by Sanji and Jaypee “Jaypee” Cruz, resulting in a resounding 6-17 victory for the Purple Orca.
However, Echo’s aggressive onslaught was short-lived as Bren upped its game, dominating the series with a commanding performance. Owgwen showcased his brilliance with Arlott, aiding his team in securing crucial objectives and sealing the deciding game in less than 13 minutes.
In addition to Bren’s triumph, Onic PH extended its winning streak with a flawless victory against Blacklist International. Facing the former ruler of MPL PH, Onic demonstrated remarkable improvement in both offensive and defensive aspects of the game. Grant “Kelra” Pillas once again stood out as the linchpin for Onic, showcasing unmatched mechanical prowess against the Blacklist agents.
Elsewhere, RSG PH and Minana Evos secured crucial victories against Omega and TNC, respectively, keeping their playoff hopes alive. Both teams now sit above Blacklist, who find themselves perilously close to the elimination zone. Barring significant changes, Blacklist may continue to face challenges this week.
Looking ahead, Onic faces a daunting challenge to confront Bren and engage in a return leg against Echo on consecutive days. Nevertheless, the outcome of these encounters will provide valuable insight into Onic’s ability to compete against the titans of global MLBB esports.
