In an eagerly awaited announcement, the renowned esports spectacle, World Cyber Gaming (WCG), has confirmed its upcoming venture to Jakarta, Indonesia. Slated to transpire from March to September 2024, this highly anticipated event signals the triumphant return of WCG to Southeast Asia after an absence of 19 years since its previous iteration in Singapore.
Organized by the esteemed Big Picture company, WCG 2024 will embrace the theme of “Global, Influencer, and Content.” BP’s CEO, Song Kwang Jun, teased that renowned content creators and professional players, with huge global followings, will be featured in the event.
To fuel excitement, BP has established a dynamic lineup of circuits, comprising the WCG Challenge, WCG Rivals, and WCG Festival. By partnering with P.Pool from Smilegate for official communication services, seamless coordination is guaranteed across various activities, including mini-games during team selections, meetings, and online meet & greets.
The first circuit, WGC Challenge, will be held from March to June 2024 in several countries to find the best influencers as representatives. Several video game titles will be competed in with a prize pool reaching USD 100,000.
Following the heated competition of the WGC Challenge, successful influencers will advance to the next stage: the WCG Rivals. Taking place from June to August 2024, this leg promises intense showdowns as contenders battle for a significant portion of the USD 120,000 prize pool.
Culminating the tournament series is the highly anticipated WCG Festival, serving as the grand finale to the esports extravaganza. Set to unfold offline at ICE BSD, Tangerang, from August 31st to September 1st, 2024, this event will feature influencers presenting captivating content beyond the realm of esports. Fans will have the exclusive opportunity to meet their favorite influencers at the venue.
