Exclusive: Baloyskie Shares His Thoughts on Improvements in MPL ID Season 12

Allen “Baloyskie” Baloy, the roamer for the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang team, has emerged as a prominent figure this season, garnering attention for his remarkable improvement that has elevated his team’s performance to new heights.

Having joined Geek Fam in Indonesia from the Philippines in October 2022, Baloyskie initially drew Indonesian viewers’ notice with his impressive record using Natalia during MPL ID Season 11. His leadership led Geek Fam to their first-ever playoffs, where he was hailed as the team’s MVP.

Flash forward to MPL ID Season 12, Baloyskie displayed an exceptional surge in his roamer role, ensuring Geek Fam’s entry into the upper bracket playoffs of MPL ID S12. His exceptional display at Mahaka Square in North Jakarta yesterday certainly didn’t go unnoticed, as he played a pivotal role in his team’s impressive comeback against the formidable Indonesian powerhouse, Team RRQ, securing a 3-2 victory.

However, Baloyskie’s success did not happen overnight. His improved performance is attributed, according to viewers and analysts, to the prevailing strong healer meta this season and his renewed collaboration with former Onic PH’s teammate Mark “Markyyy” Capacio, who joined Geek Fam in August. Speaking to Ulti Asia, Baloyskie acknowledged that these factors have indeed contributed to his success this season.

“The current patch has made the healer meta notably powerful compared to the previous season. I believe this has been a key factor in my improved performance,” he explained. “And we have Markyyy now, we used to play together, he’s been really helpful to our plans.”

Baloyskie also emphasized his adaptability to both the Indonesian and Filipino gaming scenes, attributing his consistency to regular practice matches with professional players from Philippines. However, he noted that there haven’t been significant differences in playing style between the two regions over the past year.

“This is my third season in Indonesia. I think I’ve adapted well to both regions since we’ve been sparring regularly with some pros in Philippines, and increasing the intensity this season. But I don’t think there’s a lot of differences between last year and current season.”

Geek Fam will face a daunting challenge this evening against reigning champions Onic Esports, with the match set to determine the first Grand Finalist. Observers eagerly anticipate the possibility of Geek Fam replicating yesterday’s remarkable performance in yet another thrilling encounter.
