Bigetron Alpha Sets Records in Thrilling Opener of MPL Indonesia Season 12 Playoffs

The first round MPL Indonesia Season 12 playoffs set a new record as the longest game in MPL history when Bigetron Alpha faced off against Rebellion Zion yesterday.

Both teams were somewhat surprising contenders this season. Rebellion showed a remarkable improvement in their performance after a rough start in the regular season. In contrast, Bigetron experienced a performance dip due to a busy competition schedule leading up to the mid-season break in late August. However, most viewers favored Bigetron due to their exceptional performance in the Snapdragon Pro Series and IESF 2023 a few months earlier.

These expectations were confirmed when the two teams clashed at Mahaka Square in North Jakarta. While Rebellion occasionally matched Bigetron’s tactics, it was clear that the players on Bigetron were more composed when dealing with tense situations.

In the first game, Rebellion often outperformed Bigetron in the early game, with Vincent “Vincenttt” Suwnadhi’s aggressive playstyle stole the audience’s attention. However, this didn’t last long as Bigetron’s Michael “Xyve” Richi and Kenneth “Kenn” Marcello slowed down the game and made a comeback. Ultimately, Bigetron pinned Rebellion in their base and secured a victory in the 16th minute with a score of 4-6.

In an attempt to level the score, Rebellion played aggressively in the second game, outperforming Bigetron in the early game with significant objectives. Although Kenn later outperformed Rebellion, both teams failed to capitalize on opportunities to end the game, leading to a protracted and back-and-forth struggle.

Gradually, Xyve, using Ixia, helped Bigetron break Rebellion’s defense and win the crucial objective battle in the 41st minute. Bigetron’s victory in securing the 8th Lord rotation marked their second win at the 43rd minute.

This advantage effectively quashed Rebellion’s spirit, leading to a decrease in their aggressiveness during the third game. Bigetron adeptly controlled all the objectives and subdued Rebellion without much resistance. The game concluded in the 17th minute, cementing Bigetron’s position in the upper bracket semi-final against Onic Esports later this evening.
