Recent rumors claimed a veteran member of the Boom Esports team, Gary “Blazek1ng” Dastin, will enter a new chapter in his Valorant career in India with Global Esports soon. According to reports, he did not want to extend his contract and will leave as a free agent this month.
Previously, Boom informed him that he was free to explore new opportunities with outside teams. Several major Valorant organisations, such as Team RRQ and Global Esports, have made offers to him directly, but the final decision went to the latter.
According to circulating social media rumors, the Indian club has reached an arrangement with the 27-year-old to make him as their flex next season. He is expected to replace his compatriot, Cahya “Montet” Nugraha, who is rumored to switch positions or leave the team, with Paper Rex emerging as a potential buyer to make him a successor for Wang “Jinggg” Jie for next season.
GE and Blazek1ng have not yet confirmed these rumors in any way. The former, however, just recently posted a teaser hinting at their new lineup. Seeing on the past trends from prior seasons, it is expected that they will make an official announcement soon.
Blazek1ng isn’t the only Southeast Asian player that has piqued GE’s interest. Previously, they were said to have approached Paper Rex’s Benedict “Benkai” Tan, though they have yet to hear back from him. Since the Singaporean was left out of the team’s preparations for the 2023 tournament, his departure is widely anticipated in the near future.
If this rumor is finally proven, it will be the end of his long tenure as a Boom player after joining them in 2020. The former CS:GO pro-player joined from Akara after catching the eye of Boom Esports CEO Gary Ongko, who recognized his ability in LAN tournaments. When he went inactive in November 2022, reports said he was expected to join their rival, but ultimately decided to stay and become the squad’s in-game leader when Saibani “fl1pzjder” Rahmad left them for RRQ.
