The first week of the PUBG Mobile Super League SEA Fall 2023 tournament concluded with excellent performances by teams from Vietnam and Thailand, who managed to maintain consistency amidst assaults from Indonesian teams. Bao Nam United (BNU) from Vietnam currently leads the league standings, followed by their compatriot D’Xavier, and the Thai teams Vampire Esports and Xerxia Esports.
BNU surprisingly succeeded in dethroning Xerxia and D Xavier, who maintained strong streaks from matchday 1 to matchday 3. Despite starting later on matchday 2 of week 1, the excellent teamwork and brilliant performances by the duo of Nguyen “MaxLV” Van Thuân and Nguyen “Soaz” Viêt Quân, who recorded a total of 71 eliminations, ultimately brought the underdogs to the top on matchday 4 of week 1.
Apart from consistently earning elimination points, BNU managed to match Vampire Esports’ WWCD points twice in week 1, putting both teams at 197 total points. Nevertheless, their placement points allowed BNU to edge out Vampire Esports and claim the first position.
D Xavier, Vietnam’s other competitor in PMSL SEA Fall 2023, was equally impressive. They held the most WWCD points until the fourth day when the Indonesian team Persijavos overcame them.
At the moment, BNU and D Xavier hold the first and third positions in the PMSL SEA Fall 2023 standings, respectively. However, the points differential between them and the other top ten teams is theoretically not that large and still provides an opportunity for other teams to catch up. Vampire Esports, led by ace Nattawut “TonyK” Muensa, is expected to overtake them next week if his hot streak continues.
Additionally, they must be cautious of Indonesian teams, which are currently placed between sixth and ninth in the week one rankings. The performances of Persijavos and the reigning champion Alter Ego Ares demonstrate that Indonesia’s representatives are capable of exceptional play in challenging circumstances and might surprise their opponents within their zone.
