The International Association Football Federation (FIFA) has announced their plans to create their own football video game series called FIFA 25. This marks the first time since 1994 that Electronic Arts (EA) will not be the official licensee of international football championships.
The decision came after EA ended their long-standing partnership with FIFA, stating that the organization was asking for too much of the revenue share generated from the FIFA series. In response, EA announced that they will be launching a successor to the FIFA series called EA Sports FC, but FIFA has no plans of stopping the development of their widely known game series.
According to reports, FIFA President Gianni Infantino has been in frequent talks with several triple A studios to develop the next installment of the FIFA series. Fans have been eagerly waiting for updates on the game, and it seems that FIFA has answered their prayers. The new game, FIFA 25, is expected to be released in the winter of 2024 and is said to be one of the biggest football game projects ever.
While there is no news yet regarding the game modes that FIFA will add to compete with EA Sports FC, it is expected that FIFA’s efforts to dominate the football game market will be difficult. FUT, the mainstay of the FIFA series, is licensed under EA, and there are already other games in the market aiming for the mobile gaming market, such as eFootball, as well as two new next-gen titles from Europe, UFL and Goals.
Nevertheless, the announcement of FIFA 25 has created a buzz in the gaming community, and fans are eagerly waiting for more updates regarding the game.
