If you’ve ever wanted to break into the world of professional Valorant, this might just be your time to shine.
An all-new Valorant tournament mode is currently in the works. Named Valorant Premier, this experimental feature will allow players to get a taste of the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Champions circuit. This feature will give amateur teams the opportunity to fight on the professional playing field.
The tournament will be accessible in the game to everyone, creating a way in for players who want to seek out the pro circuit. Premier also gives players something new and higher to aspire to beyond the rank of Radiant.
Premier will lead directly to Riot Games’ new domestic leagues, offering a stepping stone for the top players in each region. Esports organisations looking for fresh talent will also have a more straightforward avenue to scout new players through this feature. This way, unidentified stronger players can be found and given the opportunities to realise their potential on the professional stage. This could very well give players the leg up they need to go from sitting at home playing to international matches. You can almost hear the Valorant players at home begging for this feature to come out sooner than later.
Within Premier mode, players will be able to assemble teams of five to compete in pre-scheduled matches. Teams will be matched and face off based on similar skill levels, and each season will end with a tournament. Each team will also be allowed to customise their appearances, complete with a team logo, unique icons and background colours.
Valorant Premier is in the process of testing an alpha version in Brazil, collecting feedback and making modifications. This round of testing is focused on team creation, server load, tournament play, premier score and other crucial components. One feature in development is the map pick-and-ban system, which has never made an appearance in Valorant’s ranked mode before.
Reactions to this development have shown excitement from Valorant’s player base, with fans seemingly eager to try this new feature out.
Unfortunately, since Riot is still in the alpha testing stage, it is likely that there are many more adjustments and changes to come before this is released. It is likely that Premier will be rolled out sometime in 2023. Until then, all they can do is wait for their chance to break out on the Valorant professional scene.
