On Sunday, Team RRQ surprised the Valorant esports scene in Indonesia by unveiling their newest Valorant lineup.
The RRQ Team’s social media accounts announced that Emman, KellyS, Nexi, 2ge, and EJAY have officially joined the RRQ Indonesia team as their main lineup. The other four players on the list have all played for the RRQ Philippines team and won the Predator League 2022 Philippines competition, while EJAY got in through the trial process.
In addition, Team RRQ announced Tehbotol as their last signing and the only Indonesian player on the team. Prior to joining Team RRQ, he was one of the key players for Boom Esports and also one of the first Indonesian players to play in the Valorant Champions in September 2022.
Even though this lineup looks pretty good on paper, some fans in Indonesia have taken their disappointment to social media about how Team RRQ handled the transfer market. Many felt that RRQ didn’t have faith in Indonesian top players, while others believed that RRQ simply wasn’t ready to deal with this season’s competitive transfer window. Some even went as far as to starting a petition to revoke RRQ’s franchising spot from Valorant Champions Tour 2023.
In response to the rumors, the CEO of the RRQ team, Andrian Pauline, stated that there were a number of factors that influenced the team’s decisions regarding their transfer policy.
He hopes that fans will respect his choice and continue to support the team.
RRQ team is not the only subject of heated discussions among Indonesia’s Valorant fans. Boom Esports, the first Indonesian team to compete in the Valorant Champions, is also the subject of numerous rumors regarding the departure of the majority of its players, including Tehbotol himself.
The RRQ’s Valorant squad will take part in the Valorant Champions Tour 2023: Pacific League which will take place between March and May 2023.
