The Dark Horse Rising – Bigetron Beta Takes It All
The Mobile Legends Development League (MDL) Indonesia Season 6 competition came to an end on Sunday, October 9th. And the result was a surprising one.
Bigetron Beta won the MDL Season 6 competition, where they overcame top seed Evos Icon in the Grand Final round and set a new record.
Given their inconsistent performance in a number of games throughout the previous season, their victory definitely comes as a surprise. The fact that Bigetron only placed seventh in the regular round of the MDL while their opponents grew even more formidable further convinced their fans that the team were not ready to compete against the heavyweights and defending champion.
But going into the MDL ID Season 6 playoff round, the Bigetron Beta team showed an entirely different display of performance. The favorites were defenseless in the face of Bigetron Beta’s ruthless efficiency, which was nowhere to be seen during their MDL regular season runs. Matt and his teammates beat Onic Prodigy, Aura Blaze, RRQ Sena, and GPX in chronological order.
The competition heated up as Bigetron faced the defending champion, Evos Icon, for the first time in the grand final. The underdogs of the tournament appeared to have the ace up their sleeve, however, with Bigetron Beta tricked their way against Evos Icon with a clever draft pick. The inclusion of MPL veterans into the Evos Icon squad such as Ferxiic, Branz and Dlar proved little as Bigetron Beta breezed through them and won the match 3-0.
Bigetron Beta’s triumph over Evos Icon was the ideal conclusion they could have hoped for after a long title drought in Mobile Legends major tournament. Their victory in MDL Season 6 Indonesia was also their first major competitive success in their Mobile Legends competitive history. This achievement was made possible in no small part thanks to the hard work of their new coach, Razeboy, and the brilliance of their dynamic duo: Matt and the tournament’s MVP, Just Garr.
The team will likely not have much time to celebrate the title win, though, as Matt said they will need to prepare themselves for the upcoming 2022 President’s Cup, which will be held on October 26th.
RSG Singapore, Champions of MPL SG S4
Meanwhile in Singapore, the story was the opposite, with the favourites RSG smashing their way to become the champion with a perfect record. For their efforts, they won the top prize of S$21,000.
The winning team posted several times about their victory on the official RSG SG Instagram. The phrase “We slay again everybody” was repeatedly used. Their fans cheered them on in the comments, celebrating their victory.
They also posted a video showing the fans who went the extra mile to show up in person and cheer them on. The large crowd went ballistic as soon as the victory was announced, screaming at the top of their lungs.
Slate Esports, which came in second place tweeted an enthusiastic challenge to RSG on Twitter which has since not aged well.
It seems that this time, Slate couldn’t slay. We’ll have to see if they can redeem themselves anytime soon.
