Moonton Issues Clarification Amidst Rising Suspicions of Pro-Israel Ties

Amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, a pressing matter has surfaced, sending shockwaves through global markets as extensive boycotts against brands linked to Israel—a nation currently under global scrutiny–gain momentum. Notably, Moonton, the creator of the immensely popular Mobile Legends: Bang Bang game, finds itself embroiled in the midst of this complex situation.

Over the past few days, Moonton has become a focal point of heated discussions across various social media platforms, especially on TikTok, as allegations circulate suggesting that the Chinese game publisher aligns itself with pro-Israel sentiments. Swiftly gaining momentum, this content has garnered substantial engagement from its community, particularly resonating within the Indonesian gaming scene.

Beyond the accusations of Moonton endorsing Israel, some TikTok accounts reaching the For You Page (FYP) have gone so far as to claim the company provided a substantial financial contribution, totaling USD 97,400. This revelation has elicited fervent criticism from players and fueled threats of a mass boycott. However, Moonton has vehemently denied these allegations in recent statements.

Azwin Nugraha, Moonton Indonesia’s Public Relations Officer, countered these claims, dismissing all social media content linking the company to Israeli donations as baseless hoaxes. Furthermore, Nugraha issued a stern warning, asserting the company’s intent to take legal action against those responsible for disseminating such misinformation.

“All news surrounding Moonton’s alleged ties to Israel is hoax. We reserve the right to pursue legal consequences for those who endorse or propagate these unfounded rumors,” he declared.

At the time of this writing, Moonton has refrained from disclosing specific details about the accounts implicated in spreading misinformation. Given the prevailing trend of boycotts, Moonton faces the imperative task of swiftly quelling unrest within its gaming community to safeguard its esteemed reputation in the gaming arena.
