The most recent culmination of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Pro League Indonesia Season 12, on Sunday (17/10), witnessed some exceptional occurrences, with Onic Esports achieving a remarkable three-peat, a first in the franchise league’s history, and Geek Fam securing a spot in the MLBB World Series after a strong showing in the MPL ID grand finals. The latter recently earned overwhelming praises from both supporters and pundits due to their exceptional teamwork and management.
Geek Fam, initially an underdog team that faced difficulties during the initial weeks of the MPL ID S12 regular season, experienced a significant turnaround, consolidating their position of power. And most viewers believed their change was greatly influenced by their two Filipino imports, Allen “Baloyskie” Baloy and Mark “Markyyy” Carpaccio, who consistently motivated the team to overcome challenging circumstances.
And speaking of Filipinos impact on his team, GF’s head coach Ervan “Ervan” Pratama couldn’t help but commend the addition of these two, recognizing their exceptional abilities and experience as advantageous. He told us their significance in his strategies, particularly when facing Onic Esports, who boasts players like Paul “Yeb” Denver and Kairi “Kairi” Raysodelsol.
While there was a concern from fans about managing players from outside Indonesia, considering it was a new experience for him, Ervan stressed that he felt no pressure. He stated, “Managing the two Filipino players in the team (Baloy and Markyyy) was never a problem. They are well-versed in playing at the highest level. We are blessed to have them on the team, as they seamlessly adapt and elevate the gameplay of others.”
He further acknowledged their adherence to his strategic plans, emphasizing a methodical approach to each game, which ultimately resulted in several noteworthy comeback moments in the history of MPL ID, notably against Team RRQ and Bigetron Alpha in the playoffs.
“In terms of managing the team’s mindset, I believe our performance this season has improved because I consistently emphasize to the players the importance of focusing on one game at a time. It is important not to allow any negative thoughts regarding the outcome,” he added.
At the moment, Ervan believes it is crucial to allow his players sufficient rest before redirecting their attention to the M5 event in the Philippines later this December. He reassured that he would have ample time to determine how to adjust his strategies to elevate the team to the next level, including figuring out how to collaborate effectively with the Filipino duo and their emerging star, Mohammad “Caderaa” Pambudi.
