Former Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) players from EVOS Esports have formed a new esports organisation in Indonesia, competing in several famous game titles in Indonesia; such as MLBB, Free Fire, and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds MOBILE. The organisation is called Geng Kapak (translated to: Axe Gang) or GPX.
The former players, consisting of Oura, Donkey, and Marsha started GPX just for fun. When they had some free time as full-time streamers, they had an idea to create a fun squad in MLBB. Soon after, GPX was born.
As world champions, Donkey and Oura are extremely popular and thus their fans instantly flocked to GPX as well. While Marsha is known for his funny personality as a streamer, he has also helped GPX gain popularity.
The hype for GPX started when 3 of them said during a stream that they were going to join the MPL this season. As we all know, it is expensive to join the MPL franchise league. In the first MPL season, teams had to pay a US$1.5 million entry fee. Rumours said that the amount has doubled since then. Besides, GPX is new and all organisations that have joined MPL are large companies. The only roadblock for GPX now is that they need more papers to join.
Thus, the MPL dream for GPX will have to be postponed. However, their hustle to join the biggest league in Indonesia won’t stop there. GPX has since merged with Siren Esports, also founded by a former EVOS professional, Edward a.k.a Eiduart, thus joining the MDL; a second tier league for MLBB.
Aside from their esports team, GPX is also widely known as a home for funny and famous streamers. Apart from owners, Oura, Marsha, and Donkey, Eri and Rafly also joined them not long after GPX was created. And recently, they managed to get Adipati Dolken, a famous actor in Indonesia who also played MLBB to their streamer line up.
How big is GPX going to be? Are you ready to see GPX in MPL? We shall see in the next season.
