Here we go again.
A number of incidents have drawn attention to this year’s Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) tournament. And recently, there have been allegations that Team Flow cheated in DPC SEA Division 2 Winter Tour 2023.
Some DPC viewers claimed they had discovered proof that Team Flow suspiciously managed to pull such impossible moves during a DPC SEA division 2 match on January 25th, when they won against Team Spawn.
Viewers on subreddit believe that one of Team Flow’s player named Young “Mercury” Shi Jie was deploying a cheat programme that provides him with map hack called Byakugan. The cheat supposedly grants zero fog of war and real sight. And fans are pointing out due to Flow’s incredibly accurate movements around the map and the way he anticipated his opponents.
In order to back up their claim, one of the viewers uploaded a clip which showed that Mercury alt tabbed out of the game to check on a third-party application. The viewer also questioned how his screen got so bright all of sudden and the potential of cursor blink hack in that game.
The evidence was enough to prompt a member of the Spawn team to request that the organisers look into this matter right away.
Tri “MamangDaya” Pamungkas, who plays in pos 3 for Team Spawn, aired his suspicions about Team Flow during a livestreaming session on his personal channel after the games against them.
“It’s crazy how their Batrider could predict our movement perfectly. Looks like one of them was using the Byakugan!” he said during the livestream. He showcased how Mercury’s Batrider managed to retrace Red’s Timbersaw perfectly even when he was not seeing his opponent clearly.
Speaking of cheaters, this isn’t the first time Mamangdaya had to deal with cheating in a game. His loyal viewers know very well that long before joining Team Spawn, he was known for his bad luck, often dealing with cheaters while livestreaming Dota 2.
The organiser, Epulze, has not yet conducted an investigation into the allegations. Nevertheless, based on the prior case with Yangon Galacticos, they will not spare the rod should they discover that teams are cheating in professional games.
