Good news, Southeast Asia fans! Get ready to witness an epic reunion as Matthew “Whitemon” Filemon and Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen are teaming up again in Tundra Esports for the first big tournament of 2024.
Tundra spilled the beans last night, revealing that Topson is making a comeback as a position 3 player for the closed qualifiers of the BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024 tournament on January 11th. He’s the second player they’ve announced recently, right after Edgar “9Class” Natakian.
This reunion with Whitemon is a big deal, marking more than a year since they last played together on T1 in SEA from August to November 2022. Back then, despite the hype, the team missed out on qualifying for The International 11 in Singapore.
But hey, don’t count them out – after a year of battling it out in various tournaments, especially Whitemon, who made history as the first Indonesian player in the NA region with TSM, they’ve got some serious plans in store. Based on his previous experience, we can say Whitemon is definitely pumped to team up again with the legendary mid laner.
And for Topson, this is his round two with the English squad. After a bit of a rough patch in DreamLeague Season 22 and The International 12, he and the rest of the Tundra Esports veterans left the team officially in November 2023. They were replaced by the TSM stack from NA, which comprised of Enzo “Timado” Gianoli, Jonathan “Bryle” De Guia, Ilyas “Kasane” Gainullin, Aleksandr “Immersion” Khmelevskoi, head coach David “MoonMeander” Boon Yang, and Whitemon himself.
But things didn’t quite go as planned for the NA roster, leading to a major shakeup in Tundra’s lineup after a disappointing run in the ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 tournament last month. The only player left standing was Whitemon, now taking on the crucial role of the team’s main support. Let’s see what this revamped lineup can bring to the table!
