At the moment, responses to the 2023 centennial celebration are still pouring in from its community. Younger playerbase have appreciated Valve for giving them a chance to obtain some classic items, while some of their veteran players are not happy with the incentives for this year’s anniversary, believing they fell short of expectations.
This circumstance obviously raises concerns about Valve’s preparations for The International 12. Earlier this year, Valve stated that it would discontinue the battle pass system, which served as the primary source of content and financing for their highly anticipated yearly tournament.
