She looks like Thor, has a hammer like Thor and even has hair like the Asgardian god. But Dota 2’s newest melee hero Dawnbreaker is not a solo hero like the son of Odin is portrayed in comics. No, she’s a unique blend of toughness and support, with plenty of utility on the battlefield.
The newest hero smashes her way into Dota 2 as the 121st hero, in the epic battle between the Ancients. Equipped with a giant hammer, the hero is set to pummel enemies to the ground, leaving them stunned, slowed and hammered from her starbreaker and celestial hammer abilities.
The most prized warrior among the Children of Light’s ancient creations isn’t just a mindless brute but also a team player. Wielding her ultimate ability, Solar Guardian, she flies across the map to the aid of allies. Dishing out a pulsing wave when she lands, healing teammates and damaging enemies.
The new hero isn’t the only major change in the latest update of Dota 2, where bounty runes, teleport scrolls, heroes and even couriers get a new revamp. Bounty runes would no longer spawn in rivers, and heroes would gain teleport scrolls each time they die.
It may be too early to decide how these new changes will fit in the competitive scene of Dota 2, but as a community, we can agree that it has been an amazing year by Valve.
Bringing in win after win, Dota 2 has brought us the return of in-person international competitions, an original Netflix animation, a novel tutorial experience, and now a brand-new hero.
