The Indonesian new sensation, Army Geniuses, has announced two big news via their social media. In addition to unveiling their new moniker as Mansion Army Geniuses, as part of Mansion 88’s sponsorship, they announced a new division that will be going into Counter Strike competitive scene.
Mansion Army Geniuses announced via their Twitter that they are aiming for Counter Strike competition in the near future. However, the team has only released a teaser at the moment and keeping the actual lineup away from the public for now.
Indonesian esports fans who yearn for the return of a local Counter Strike team will undoubtedly find this announcement intriguing. Previously, Indonesian teams such as NXL, XCN, and Boom Esports had competed in local and international CS competition. Nevertheless, the lack of CS competition in Southeast Asia prompted these teams to disband or switching to Valorant competition.
It would be interesting to see how far Mansion AG will make it into CS:GO competitive scene. A lot of CS diehard fans have been speculating that the long-awaited CS:GO 2, which is slated for release this year, will spark interest for CS competition in SEA once again.
The DPC’s underdogs
Outside of CS, Mansion AG has been known as one of the surprise teams from Indonesia who is committed to competing in the Dota 2 competition. Though the team is only three years old by now, they have already faced big opponents in several international competitions. Last year they surprisingly ended in third place in the Beyond the Summit Pro Series Season 13 SEA and DPC SEA Tour 3 2022 in division 2.
The Batam’s finest then brought in Indonesian superstar duo, Tri “Jhocam” Kuncoro and Muhammad “inyourdream” Rizky, as replacements for Daud “bd” Budiawan (post 1) and Ravdan “Narman” Narmandakh (post 4) ahead of the DPC 2023. Both of them proved to be the key signings which the team badly needed. In the span of three months, Mansion AG achieved clean sheets victory in DPC SEA Tour 1 in division 2 and ended in 4th place in DPC SEA Tour 2 in division 1, just 1 win difference from Team Execration and Team SMG who were finished 2nd and 3rd.
