Onic Esports’ remarkable feat in clinching a consecutive triple victory at the MLBB Pro League Indonesia Season 12 in North Jakarta’s Mahaka Square has significantly captivated the attention of both local and international spectators. Their exceptional capacity to quickly elevate their mental resilience and tactics has left their rivals grappling to anticipate their next moves. And one could argue that the driving force behind their triumph was Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol, consistently showcasing top-tier performance as the team’s jungler.
During the regular season, the Yellow Porcupines faced some performance fluctuations, leading their devoted fans to hope for a backup plan. Notably, their setbacks against Aura Fire and Geek Fam highlighted the challenges they faced, particularly when Kairi was temporarily replaced by Albert “Alberttt” Nielsen, who, despite being skilled, found it challenging to sync with his new team.
Kairi’s return to the lineup proved pivotal, as he led the team to victory in their remaining matches, showcasing a range of strategies under the guidance of their head coach, Paul “Yeb” Denver. They went on to defeat this season’s underdogs, Bigetron Alpha and Geek Fam, and securing the championship.
This results eventually led many to think that Kairi’s world class gameplay was the sole reason behind their sudden improvement. However, the young Filipino emphasized that the team’s success was a collective effort, dismissing the notion of being the main star. He credited the team’s commitment to pushing themselves after encountering challenges during the regular season.
“I’m really happy to see this team winning the three-peat. And it would not be possible without these guys (teammates) and their commitment to push themselves this season, because this season was not easy,” said Kairi to Ulti Asia.
“After this update, we ran into a lot of trouble, we were losing a lot of scrims. We tried to find a good balance with the heroes that fit in the current meta. We adjusted but we were still struggling in the regular season,” he said. “Then we did another adjustment a week before the playoffs. We worked together to figure things out, and it paid off.”
Indonesian fans will definitely looking forward to a stellar performance from Kairi and the Onic team in their upcoming match against M5 in the Philippines. With their impressive showing in the MLBB Southeast Asia Cup 2023, Onic remains a top contender for the most-coveted international trophy, a testament to their determination and skill.
